RICHARD NOWAK FINE ART

Fine oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings! Landscapes, marine scenes, garden scenes and still lifes. Painted in a realistic style with an impressionistic flair! Also, pictures of paintings from my students at Westfield Creative Arts in Westfield, MA where I teach acrylic painting.

I used brushes and painting knives on this oil painting. It is entitled "Crane Pond Waterfall" and my perspective is viewing the falls through the overgrowth of trees and brush on the shore. It was very difficult to get an unobstructed view because of the trees and the deep ledge to the water. I used the knives on the leaves in the foreground.

I just rejoined Oil Painters of America as an associate member and started an associate membership in the American Impressionist Society. Both are great national painters organizations which put on exhibitions each year. Their websites are www.oilpaintersofamerica.com and www.americanimpressionistsociety.org

This past weekend I finished the painting below of an New England autumn scene using my own photos as a reference. It is a companion piece to my earlier one called "Honey Pot Road Autumn" as it is on the same property.

I had a great time painting in my basement studio this 12" x 16" oil painting on a canvas panel. I used my own photos that I had taken of a local scene. I had to climb down an embankment under a bridge to get this view!

Fresh off the easel this weekend! "Honey Pot Road Autumn", oil on canvas panel, 16" x 20", I painted this from my own photos in my studio in the same style as my plein air painting but on a larger size canvas. I will paint more paintings in this larger format.

I had a great time Sunday afternoon with two students in my Plein Air Acrylic Painting Workshop. Picture below is of Phyllis and Jason. This was Jason's first time painting outdoors and he did great. After two hours the light faded but both will finish their paintings indoors with the photos that they took of the Westfield River.
