I enjoy painting landscapes, marine scenes, garden scenes, and still life. I would like to describe my artisitc style as a realistic style with an immpresionistic flair. I apply the oil paint to canvas with both brushes and painting knives. In oil paiting I utilize thick textured paint especially with flowers and foilage which stands in contrast to the smoother areas of the painting. This creates a 3D affect which allows the onlooker to feel as though they can walk into the scene
Recently I have begun painting with watercolors using the same techniques I have mastered in my oil paintings for the past 20 years. Watercolors are portable and dry immediately which allows the artist to frame and display with ease. Also the variety of bright and vivid colors add to creativity.
I went through my stack of old paintings and found this one that I painted years ago (no date on the back). It is a very textured oil painting titled "Cape Cod Sunset" and is a 16" x 20" oil on canvas.
