I enjoy painting landscapes, marine scenes, garden scenes, and still life. I would like to describe my artisitc style as a realistic style with an immpresionistic flair. I apply the oil paint to canvas with both brushes and painting knives. In oil paiting I utilize thick textured paint especially with flowers and foilage which stands in contrast to the smoother areas of the painting. This creates a 3D affect which allows the onlooker to feel as though they can walk into the scene
Recently I have begun painting with watercolors using the same techniques I have mastered in my oil paintings for the past 20 years. Watercolors are portable and dry immediately which allows the artist to frame and display with ease. Also the variety of bright and vivid colors add to creativity.
I had a great time painting in my basement studio this 12" x 16" oil painting on a canvas panel. I used my own photos that I had taken of a local scene. I had to climb down an embankment under a bridge to get this view!

I have 14 paintings on display and for sale at Mama Cakes on Elm Street in downtown Westfield, MA. Included are two acrylic paintings, one watercolor and the rest oil paintings. Also, I have a large rack of loose matted original watercolor paintings. They will be there for the rest of the month and three weeks into February. Stop by to check them out and have a coffee and delicious cupcake!
